Internet Booger (2006)

about

In 2006, between the release of Driew and The Snail House, I was commissioned, along with Wolfgang Amadeus Stallionious von Phonk Meister the nineteenth and three quarters, to front a new incarnation of the life-style group COT.FM that would last until 2009. Following the tradition of the band that goes back to the original 1930s line-up - with every new line up there must be a new name based on the original acronym - the band became The Children Of The Froghurt Machine!

Around the same time, I obtained two keyboards. One I would use in this song and many more to come. They were owned by my school and I was told they no longer worked. I'd played one of them a few years earlier and knew it was worth trying to fix. To my surprise, when I got them home, both keyboards worked! One was similar to my sister's keyboard I'd used for Driew and The Life and Times of Jimmy Ibeaner but with an additional pitch bender. The other however was a genuine Roland HS-80 digital synthesizer! Made in 1986, this would be my very first vintage synth,

Although it had a few dead keys, the HS-80 quickly became my preferred instrument for writing and recording. It had tons of interesting sounds and the ability to modulate and create your very own. It is especially prominent in the Cot.FM album Audio Buffet from which this track was taken.

Internet Booger is a romantic song about a love of the world wide web and heart break that comes with violent hackers! Verse one describes our mysterious character's euphoric joy for the web while the rest of the song deals with his retaliation to an attempted hack of his computer system.

SUPER FACTS !!!

I told the school the keyboards worked and that I'd pay $100 for both and they never got back to me...

The cover of Audio Buffet was drawn by Ruby McLean.

Internet Booger has been performed many times by Cot.FM and Leo J since its initial release and remains a fan favourite.

Drum tracks are produced from the keyboard used in the Jimmy Ibeaner epic.

A genuine dial up tone can be heard in the intro as well as the talk box used in Let The Guitar Do The Talking.

The demonic laughter of the children's toy "Giggling Gurty" can be heard multiple times throughout the song.

lyrics

Plug in and dial up
an urge you can not stop
it's an electric world
I'm an electric girl
feel the electrons flow
then taste my neon glow
my veins are wired up
full throttle to the top.

Feel the electric flowing
Witness data base growing
I'm sitting in my chair
In my underground lair

Something has just gone wrong
been on this site too long
must wipe my hard drive free
of this I T D
What a loser, how lame
he just hacked my mainframe
I'll show him how it's done
it's time to have some fun

You look so proud sitting in that seat of yours
I'm watching you!

Hack the mainframe, this is no game
you are the lame I am insane
loaded up it's time to roll, I have the power to gain control.
Systematic counter error, this frozen screen will last forever
"who are you?" you don't want to know
I just put your hard drive on death row!

DEATH ROW BABY!!!
