Some time in 2004 I bought my first piece of recording gear and for the first time I could record real instruments! For the price of a small horse I had a state of the art two track recorder shipped in from Germany, the only place in the world at the time making computer based recorders with more than half a track.
Now I had a recording device I was ready to start writing my inevitable hits! Unfortunately I didn't have any decent microphones so I was still using Guitar Pro for any instruments I couldn't plug straight into the two track. This marked the transition from Guitar Pro songs...
I started to work on some thrash metal songs using drums I programmed in guitar pro and an electric guitar and bass. Using my trusty Boss Metal Zone I was able to create a guitar sound that vaguely resembled a small swarm of bees. The sound was nothing desirable but I loved that I could finally record songs.
I wrote about 5 or 6 metal songs and quickly realised I was wasting my time. For a metal song to sound any good, I need real drums and guitars recording using big amps and microphones... It didn't take me long to return to more experimental styles that I could pull off better with my recording setup.
Of all the thrash metal tunes written during that short period, this is probably my favourite and probably the shortest. It didn't have anywhere as many shredding solos and has a few interesting parts that I still think sound ok today in an age of beards and surf wax.
